Like a Handkerchief Girl Memoirs of a girl aspiring to be to see to live embracing life M V Southworth Rev Abram Ryan 9781798057056 Books Reviews

  • I found this book very interesting. It gives the reader a glimpse of the trials, tribulations and antics that the author experienced growing up in a large family. Blessed with a supportive extended family always present, she then turned things around when older and moved in with her grandfather to support him.
Some history of the author’s hometown is mentioned as well as her great grandparents, who had a large influence in the town.
The author writes about her world travels with a famous singing performing group and her private experiences living with host families.
A very interesting book and collection of the author’s early private memories, thoughts and childhood.
It is a work of art from the heart.
  • I found this book to be all of the things I mentioned above plus more. It shows the joys of growing up in an extended family and the strong bonds and love amongst generations of family. Not only love of family but also a love of friends, home and church stayed with the author as she spread her wings and pursued her dreams … sometimes with sad and often times with humorous situations … her love, steadfastness and loyalty to friends, family, and God were like a thread that runs so true in the Handkerchief Girl.
  • This book is great! It really takes you back in time and makes you feel as though you are living through her eyes. Love it
  • This is a very easy, fun read. The author is so open and sincere in telling her story of growing up in a large family living in a small town. She is a very strong person who never lost her faith or humanity! I enjoyed it very much.
  • Virginia has done such a wonderful job at capturing the stories and characters from our small town. She tells of the antics with a kind voice and a childlike playfulness. I am so pleased to see her live out her writing dreams for the rest of us to enjoy!
  • This book is wonderful written by a lady I’ve known for some years ! She tells of so many happenings that I can remember . It’s just a wonderful book .everyone needs to get a copy of this work ! It brought so many memories back to me .loved it
  • I was gone from my hometown for 40 years. This young lady recounts part of those 40 years in town and her family history.. It's priceless..
  • This was a sweet story about a young girl in a large family growing up in a small country town. The author's stories were thoughtful, kind, and quite humorous through the eyes of a child and then as a young woman ready to spread her wings in the world. I thoroughly enjoyed this weekend read!
