  • I have been looking for some reading books that my 5 year old can read. These are working great. A new word is introduced on each page, building up to four words by the end of the booklet. The picture clearly illustrates the word, so she is able to either guess or have an idea of what the word is if she needs help sounding it out. The back of the book lets him work on printing while reviewing what what in the book. I find word families have been easier to introduce than sight words. Great first books for a beginner reader!
Pages are perforated, all you need to do is cut in half, fold and staple.

    Great set of books!
  • OK! As some other reviewers have stated
    1. You have to make copies of the pages to make the book.
    2. The pictures aren’t in color.
    3. The process of removing the pages to make the books is VERY TEDIOUS AND FRUSTRATING.
Unless you have tiny hands don’t bother.
I’m not even excited about this book anymore because of how ridiculous this whole process is. I would NOT recommend this book and the cost is outrageous for all the frustration that goes into the process. I wouldn’t pay more than $4.99 AT THE MOST. I had to cut along the binding of the book to loosen the pages.
  • When I got these I was convinced they would be alot of work. But they are not! Very easy to put together. I know some people complained that it was time consuming to make copies, then cut, and staple. Well you can easily make the books without copying the pages and making double sided mini books. The odd numbered pages (3,5,7) are the ones your child writes on...which solves the problem. So even in the car, your little one can easily read the left page and write on the right page that lays flat on a tray or table. I'm very happy with these!!!
  • Although the content on the mini-books are fine, the whole construction part of it was not. The serrated pages does not rip off well, which was okay as long as you had a razor to cut the page out. Afterwards you have to cut down the center where the solid line was, the two halves don't match up in size. So...content was fine, but the execution of the whole concept very poor.
  • This book is very useful for kinder and first grade for foundational reading skills. They have all the word families that are needed for them to know. Also, is beautifully illustrated so they can color it and easy to photocopy them as a little book. They also will integrate writing skill as well in those reading mini books.
  • The idea is great, but you have to make copies of the pages to make it usable. I didn't buy a book to make more copies.
  • These are not books. This is a coloring type reproducible. You have to cut out the pages and then make double-sided copies and then assemble them. Most people do not have a photocopier in their house! Very disappointed.
  • Each of the little books not only uses a different word family, but also offers one or two new sight words. These are very short little books, great for the beginner reader that gets discouraged easily.
    A snake
    A snake wants to bake
A snake wants to bake a big cake
A snake wants to bake a big cake on a lake.
The last page offers the child a chance to fill in the first letter of the "ake" words.

The "eep" book goes like this
    The Sheep
    The sheep drove the jeep
The sheep drove the jeep and went beep
The sheep drove the jeep and went beep in his sleep.

    Well you get the idea.
